The prognosis of patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) has been poor, but the survival rates of OHCA patients have been improving due to revisions of the “chain of survival,” such as the improvement in bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), widespread use of automated external defibrillators, and improvement in post-cardiac arrest care.
